European window and door market to grow by 225 million units

Ceresana, a Konstanz, Germany-based research company for the industrial sector, has released a study on the European market for windows and doors — both interior and exterior — used by the construction sector.

The study predicts that the volume of the European market for windows and doors will rise by about 225 million units by 2020.

The report says that the materials used for windows and doors differ from country to country due to climatic reasons and customer preferences. In Europe, Cerasana says, the most common products are windows made of PVC, wood and metal or some combination of materials.

While PVC frames are popular across Europe, Ceresana points out that countries in Europe do actually differ in their choice of materials. For example Poland, Russia and Turkey have more than 65 percent of their window frames made from PVC whilst Scandinavia leans towards wood.
